The 6 Steps to Your Off-Grid Camper
1. Define Requirements
The first step is to determine how you would like to be able to use your Campervan or Motorhome.
Examples of things to consider are:
How long you like to be parked up without moving;
what times of year you will be going away;
How many folk are camping;
What level of creature comforts you want to enjoy, etc.
2. Determine your Budget
Of course, how much you have to spend affects what you can do, but need not stand in your way. With the right design you can build up in stages to your final destination over time whilst also eliminating redoing previous work. Correct Initial Design can save money overall compared to starting with basic components and replacing for better alternatives later.
3. A Clear Design Brief and Documentation
When you get an Electrical Design from Wildebus, you get an Electrical Wiring Diagram created just for you, with recommendations for Devices that are suitable for your Requirements and your Budget.
Because all vans are built a little differently cable routing and fixing methodologies are not specified as these are best determined on an case by case basis on installation.
4. Quality Products
At Wildebus for our designs we only use quality products that we would (and do) use in our on Campers and Motorhomes.
Our recommended products include Victron Energy Hardware from the Netherlands, Ablemail Chargers made right here in the UK, CBE Fittings from Italy and genuine 100% copper cables produced in the UK and EU.
5. A Quality Installation
The previous steps will provide you with everything you need (as long as you have a camper to work on of course!) to build an off-grid ‘Freedom’ Campervan, whether you follow the wiring diagram and install yourself or contract a local installer to carry out the installation. We are currently not offering an installation service ourselves but we will be available to answer any questions to you or your installer.
6. Product Supply Only Service
If you have a design in mind already and just need to bring it to life with the chargers, cables, sockets and switches, etc, then we can help with that as well of course.
