Description
The Higher Current BatMon units are available in either 300A or 500A sizes.
Consisting of a 300A external shunt, this variant can cope with most demands of off-grid living, but if you have very heavy current loads then the 500A external shunt model might be the one to go for.
The BatMon App is available free of charge for Android or iPhone from the Play Store or Apple Store and is very simple to use. It is designed to be user-friendly and intuative, unlike some of the alternatives that just baffle with loads of options and menus for things you really don’t need!
As well as the actual BatMon unit for monitoring the Battery, you also get an external Temp Sensor (in addition to the standard integrated Temp Sensor) and an integral programmable relay that can be used to control external devices. For example, you could use the BatMon Unit as the heart of a battery monitoring and charge control system, attaching the temperature sensor to a Lithium Battery, and programme the unit that it the temp drops to 2 degree Celcius, it will enable the integral relay to switch on an external Power Relay that then turns on a Battery Heater pack to allow the battery to accept a charge. (Lithiums should not be charged below 0 Celcius).
Included in the package is the following:
- BatMon with External Shunt (300A or 500A depending on your selection)
- External thermometer sensor
- Fused power lead
- 2 x M10 Nut, bolt and washers
- 2 x cable clips for securing BatMon
BatMon is designed to be as accurate and affordable as possible. Due to ohms law, it makes sense that the lower the current rating of the current shunt then the more accurate the solution will be. However, it is essential that the BatMon installed in your system is sized correctly according to the installation. If you are in doub’t please consult an off-grid electrical specialist.
Each BatMon device is calibrated against a “Master” device ensuring they all report the same accurate readings.
