The Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger is a professional DC to DC adaptive 3-stage charger with built-in Bluetooth.

For use in dual battery systems in vehicles or on boats where the (smart) alternator and the start battery are used to charge the service battery. The unit can be monitored and programmed via Bluetooth and can be remotely controlled via a remote on/off switch and has an engine running detection mechanism.

• The 12V-12V Range of DC-DC Smart Battery Chargers are designed for charging a 12V leisure battery in vehicles  with a standard alternator or with a smart alternator (regenerative braking, Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines)
• The 24V-12V Range of DC-DC Smart Battery Chargers are designed for charging a 12V leisure battery in 24V vehicles with a standard alternator or with a smart alternator (regenerative braking, Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines)
• The 12V-24V Range of DC-DC Smart Battery Chargers are designed for charging a 24V leisure battery in vehicles with a standard alternator or with a smart alternator (regenerative braking, Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines)

The Battery to Battery Smart Charger will charge the leisure battery, eliminating both high voltages (e.g. Mercedes: 15,4V) and low voltages.
Deep discharge of the vehicle’s starting battery is avoided by a built-in ‘engine running’ detection system. The Smart Charger can be programmed by Bluetooth using the Victron Connect app

There is an adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm: bulk – absorption – float
These chargers are suitable for charging lithium batteries and an unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel for increased output.

The most likely model required for Campervans and Motorhomes is the 12V-12V version.
In the higher output models this is available as both Isolated and Non-Isolated  versions.  The “isolated” refers to you need to run a -ve cable from the engine/starter battery to the Charger as the vehicle electrics and leisure electrics are not ground-connected via the vehicle chassis (this is a much more common situation in the marine world, which is where the Isolated version would be most applicable). Because this is unlikely for most campervans and motorhomes the non-isolated will work fine, and at a lower cost.  If you are unsure, feel free to contact us to discuss.
