Inverters let you use the same type of products in your Motorhome and Campervan as you do at home  (within reason, of course!).

There are a few things to consider when selecting an Inverter:

Output Waveform: There are two main types of Inverters – Modified Sine Wave (also sometimes called Quasi Sine Wave) and Pure Sine Wave Inverters.  Pure Sine Wave (PSW) inverters have the same kind of clean AC – Alternating Current – signal as you get in your house, so you can plug in without worries.  Modified Sine Wave (MSW) inverters have a chopped waveform and this can cause problems with some devices.  Before opting for an MSW Inverter, you should check if the devices you want to plug in are suitable.

Power Rating:  There is more than one thing to consider with power ratings.  There is the Continuous Rating and the Peak Rating.  Many devices have a power surge on startup, such as Compressor Fridges, and the Inverter has to be able to cope with that surge as well as the normal running demand.

Battery Capacity:  This is not a feature of the Inverter itself, but you have to be able to deliver the power the device is calling from from the battery, so an Inverter that is oversized for the battery bank will not be an optimum choice.  Contact us if you would like any help in correct selection.

Duty Cycle: What use you have for an inverter should help determine what ‘quality’ you need to be looking at.  If you need an inverter for very occasional use and is non-critical, then a budget Inverter should be fine.  If on the other hand you need an inverter that is running 24/7  (say for a Fridge) and/or is Mission Critical (maybe for a CPAP machine), then product quality must trump price (within reason, of course).

We can supply on request a selection of Inverters for a wide range of uses, but within our shop, the product we recommend are the Victron Phoenix models.  They are more expensive then the Budget range of Inverters for sure, but are top-quality units and are also designed as non-stop units and can be relied on for all uses.

Welcome to the Victron Phoenix range of inverters

Within our shop, we list the Victron Phoenix Range.  These are all Pure Sine Wave Inverters, with a super clean output signal and with the ECO mode, use a fraction of power when ‘sleeping’ as well as a excellent ability to manage Peak Watts that are experienced if used with AC devices that feature Compressors as well as some other motors.

If you are looking at Inverters and also Mains Chargers, consider the Victron Multiplus models that combine the Functions of an Inverter with that of a Charger in a single box, as well as incorporating other great features

Phoenix Inverter Datasheet

The Victron Phoenix Range of Inverters offered here have a common set of features.  Check the individual product details for variances in capabilities.  Please note the name of the product refers to the VA Rating.  The Wattage will be a little lower.
As standard, we supply with a UK 13A Socket Style.  If you require an IEC (“Kettle”) or a Euro-type socket, please add a note to your order stating this.

If you require a more powerful Inverter, these are also available from us – please contact us to discuss.
