We have three options for Battery Monitoring from Victron
The most advanced option is the BMV-712 with Bluetooth and the ability to monitor the voltage on a second battery eg the Starter Battery.
The basic monitor is the BMV-700, which has all the same key monitoring but without Bluetooth and just a single battery connection and the third is the Smart Shunt, which is similar to the 712 but is ‘headless’ (so no display and relies on the Bluetooth App to show the information). We have the 500A model in our listing.
The BMV Family provides information such as:

- Battery voltage (V)
- Battery charge/discharge current(A)
- Ampere-hours consumed (Ah)
- State of charge (%)
- Power consumption in watts
- Time to go at the current rate of discharge
- Voltage on second battery
- BMV-712 and SmartShunt only
- Temperature or midpoint voltage measuring (Temp sensor required)
Please note that also required is a short (approx 200mm) -ve Battery to Shunt cable of a minimum gauge of 16mm or same as existing battery cables, which is the larger. The standard monitor as supplied by Victron does not include this.

BMV 712 Smart battery monitor
This is the latest addition to the ‘battery fuel gauge’ range. With built-in Bluetooth, the battery status can be displayed and setting altered using Victron Energy’s smartphone App.
The BMV 712 is supplied with a 500A shunt, 10 metre RJ 12 UTP cable and 2 x +ve battery cable with fuses for powering shunt. It can be face fixed or panel mounted and is supplied with a square & round face options. This unit can also be connected directly to the Color Control GX, Venus GX and Cerbo GX using a VE Direct lead.

Victron BMV-700 Monitor
The ‘starter’ Monitor with Display but no Bluetooth. It can however be conneced to a bluetooth dongle, or be connected directly to the Color Control GX, Venus GX and Cerbo GX using a VE Direct lead.
